Breedings

Breedings capture breeding pairs and their litters within a project. Use them to track parentage, planned timelines, and expected offspring characteristics.

Two-Part Form

Creating a breeding entry happens in two steps. Enter the required information (name, project, mother, father), then continue to the full form to add optional details such as timeline and litter information.

Breeding fields:

  1. Name: Unique within the project (required).
  2. Project: Select a project you can edit (required).
  3. Mother: Maternal subject (dam) from the chosen project (required).
  4. Father: Paternal subject (sire) from the chosen project (required).
  5. Start/End dates: Pairing and separation dates.
  6. Date of birth & Weaning date: Actual or expected key milestones for the litter.
  7. Litter size: Expected or observed number of offspring.
  8. Expected genotype: Notes about anticipated genotype outcomes.
  9. Description: Rich text notes describing breeding goals, observations, or housing notes.
  10. Tags: Shared tags for quick filtering and organization.

Permissions

Breeding access inherits from the associated project. You must have change access on the project to edit or create breedings, and the selected parents must belong to that project.

Breeding API Access

The API exposes breedings (including parent IDs and timeline fields) for automated workflows. Refer to the documentation for endpoint details and authentication requirements.
