Strains

In biology, a strain is a low-level taxonomic rank below the rank of species. A mouse or a rat strain is a group of animals that is genetically uniform. In BrainSTEM, strains is a shared model across users.

Submission process

Anyone can submit strains or submit changes to an existing ones, but all submissions must be approved before they are available for usage. Please see existing entries for examples as to what to submit.

Fields

  • Name: The name of the strain (required; must be unique).
  • Popular name: Popular name of the strain.
  • Appearance: A description of the appearance of the strain.
  • Description: A general description of the strain.
  • Species: The species it belongs to (required).
  • Breeding: Breeding status. Options: Inbred, Outbred, Wild-type, or Unknown (required).

Permissions

Once a entry has been approved it becomes available to everyone.
